Establishing new schedule ...

We are slowly getting use to each other again! And TOto is refusing to use the Nugi at home. He seems to have QUIT Nugi and prefer to pee outdoor! We should be really HAPPY about it but we are just worry if the weather is really bad, then what happen!? Hahaha, some people take MONTHS to train their dog to pee outside we have a SELF-TRAINed westie and we are still fretting over it. The irony!

Anywa, in order to (配合) coordinate with this new habit of TOto's, we try to bring him out more often establishing a schedule. For now, we are doing a 4x a day schedule; 8am, 12pm, 5pm and 10pm! Hopefully slowly we can eliminate to 2x a day schedule.

Anyway TOto is calmer and easier to bring down for his walk. FOr his daytime walk, TOto can do it UNLEASHED!! Even when hub bring him down, and I CALL out to Toto from my Patio, he will come running home!! Hahaha, good dog!! And when leashed, he is not pulling as bad as he used too. He certainly has learnt some good habit from MR K!

Problem Solved

Toto again LOST CONTROL at the Patio, both of us felt so lost we have to get out of the house to 'breath' and lucky us, we manage to TALK it through. Althou we still cannot find the exact reason for his 'change' but then we figure that we had to treat him like a baby puppy again.

We think TOto might have gotten confused.

1) When he place 2 front paws on the Nugi to pee for a few days, we sort of scolded him. This might have confused him, that we do not want him to pee there.

2) And when we goes out, we always encourage TOto to pee first before boarding our car and drive off to the 'Dog park. So he might think that once he PEEd DOWNSTAIRS on the grass he gets the chance to GO OUT. So he try to 'TOLERATE' his pee as long as possible until we bring him downstairs! And he never get scolding from Pee-ing or Pooping downstairs!

But this short 'fiasco' tell us that, from now on TOto can hold his pee for at maximum 8hours! And so, now when we go out we wouldn't have to rush back, hahahaha ...

Anyway we use the most primitive method of putting his nugi back into a PLAY PEN again like when he is a baby puppy! And once we reached home from breathing some fresh air outside, and bring Toto to the pen area, he refused initially but we also refused to let him come out. And he got the idea and PEE onto NUGI!!

After that we calculate the timing, and we crated him at night. He requested to come out like 3am, just nice. I brought him to the Pen area, he refused to submit, but eventually pee when I goes off to the toilet myself. 2nd Success ...

After that when we woke in the morning, we saw a 3rd puddle, that means he pee in Nugi in the middle of the night too! Yeahhhhhhh ...

And he also Poop onto Nugi without cue!
He has this habit of jumping onto our bed after he poop!! That is how we realised he poop, and if we are still sleeping he would sleep with us!

OUR TOTO is back!!

Toto got the B-infection ...

After a antibiotic shot and a antibacterial/antibiotic ointment, 'EnteDerm';  he is better already but then he still do not want to pee on nugi ...

TOto @ 8 mths

Last week was terrible, TOto is at his Terrible 8! His adolescent is FULL BLOWN! Last weekend he always urinate out of his nugi and YQ is cleaning up his PEE for a few days! Toto purposely only placed 2 paws on his nugi and all his pee are outside! Dang ...

Then on Wednesday we decide to let him try day care and he came back Soooooooooooooooooo DIRTY and we discover that his penis tip cannot go back into his sheath and we are frantic and wondering what happen. We frantically search the internet and was 'instructed' to ICE it to reduce the swollen penis sheath and head. In the end we still have to use KY to help the tip slide back into the sheath ...

He was WHITE and pretty when we board him but when we collect him ...

He is GREY! We have no choice but to bath him ...

And we thought that is the end of our nightmare ...

In the morning, I found one puddle of pee ...

In the afternoon, he lost control of his bladder and wet the SOFA! I was LOOKING at him lose control, I think he scared himself and jump off the sofa and goes into hiding. We thought he might be tooooooo tired from the day care because he was allowed to play from 8am-5pm, and usually TOto sleep throughout the afternoon!

And After that he has this habit of HOLDING his pee and DO NOT want to use NUGI anymore. What happen in DAYCARE!? And subsequently every morning, he will have one puddle here and there, unless we bring him out to do his business!! So we timed him, every 8hours we try to bring him out ...

Sunday night was the WORST, we saw PUS coming out of his PENIS and we have to bring him into EMERGENCY! The Vet wash out his pus and did a check, it was bacteria infection, and that Vet visit cost us USD180+, and we were given a tube of meds to apply for him. We were so traumatised by the whole event, imagine seeing PUS coming out of his penis ...

Now every morning is a 'fight' between TOto and YQ!

TOto will not be allowed to go out into the patio UNLESS he use the Nugi! And today, in the afternoon. Toto overslept, and lost control again!!! aRRRRGghhhhhh! Toto must been influence by other naughty dog in daycare to 'rebel' by holding his PEE so that we have no choice but to bring him out MORE OFTEN!

Can he survive ONE MONTH of Boarding?

Oppsie, Toto n his NUGI ...

Toto did something that he hadn't done in a LONG LONG LONG while, he pooped and Peed on the carpet yesterday night!! YQ caught him on the spot, and scolded him so loud, I thought he is KILLING my dog! Hahaha, I have to JUMP out of bed ...

And we know it is really NOT all TOto fault, know why!?

Because the NUGI aka his toilet, is VERY DIRTY! I had saw that earlier and forgotten to inform YQ to clean it. Poor Toto, he must have felt very bad, very 无奈! Because we guess after his poop, he came and lick my eye, HE NEVER do that AT NIGHT, and I was wondering WHY!?

After YQ clear up his shit, he still goes sniffing at one area of the carpet, to let YQ knows that 'Gee Dad, I pee here too!!', haha another round of scolding for Toto!! Poor thing le, inform dad still Kana scolding ...

And how we know TOTO knows it is at fault? Because THIS MORNING, TOto actually COME and wake YQ up BEFORE his business!! Hahahahaha ~ It like telling YQ , see I KNOW I should pooped and peed at NUGI, and he did it 'ZHUN ZHUN' (accurately) without the POOP falling out of place!!

SO WEIRD right! (Toto usually POOPED before coming in to wake us up!)

Toto is a HYGIENE freak with regards to his NUGI area, if the NUGI gets too smelly or too FULL, he won't use it until we change him a new one! This is his habit since VERY VERY young, hahahaha ~

Me and YQ always says to him,' NEED to be so clean or NOT!'

What we 'Hate' about TOto

TOto is not ALL angel ok!
Let's make a list why we sometime is so angry with him, but then again the anger can subside like in 3seconds ...

1) When we catch him biting cables, a bad habit he got infected when I was away in June! We will take out the cable and tempt him to bite, and when he try to do it we will say 'NO' firmly, and pass him other toy and start to 'Praise' him happily to let him know toy is OK.

It is very hard to 'CATCH' him on the SPOT! He usually do that kinda of 'PROHIBITTED' stuffs when we are sleeping in, in the morning or when he is ALONE at home. And maybe he is toooooo tired he tried doing it after we brought him back from dogpark just yesterday, and I am in the kitchen washing up, while YQ is bathing. Of course CAUGHT RED MOUTHED! Of course I 'Scolded' him and after YQ is out , I complain to YQ again!! Hahaha, me and YQ always have to 'ACT' and be very 'animated' about the whole 'complaining' ...

Remedy by Toto, he will bring other toys (nearest) to you, and pushing the toy to your leg. Hahaha I was asking YQ, wah 'kana' scolding still dare to play ar!?

YQ's interpretation:' NO TOTO is asking you, crab crab can bite right!!'

2) You need to WALK them or bring them out EVERYDAY so that they can sleep throughout the night! If not they will try to be a NINJA in your living room! And in the END, I cannot sleep because I keep hearing noises outside!!

If Toto is properly walked and his energy wasted, he will happily be crated and sleeping in it! SO we can sleep through the night too!

3) We are consider VERY lucky @ about 4months old TOto is already housebroken, which took us about 2months ... (LONG TWO MONTHS!)Although he got the IDEA of having to Pee and Poop at Nugi in about less than one month after we bring him home, but there are alway ALOT of 'Puppy' accidents here and there. We realised that thou they get the idea, but puppies still cannot control their bladder, thus the 'accidents' and not that they 'don't know'.

4) Toto needs lots of grooming, althou it is not obvious from his wild wild look!! But then; his toes needs to be clipped, ears need to be clean and plucked, feet pad and eye fur need to be trimmed and plus we handstripped him. So all these takes ALOT of time! And he had to be comb very often!

A stranger once ask us,' How did we manage to keep toto so clean and white!'

I do not know what we did right but My guess :

• We comb him ALMOST daily.
• Apple Cider Vinegar added to his first batch of water in the morning.
• After his outdoor run, we spritz him with his shampoo that is mixed with water, and we wipe him out with a towel THOROUGH and he hates that!
• He keep to ONLY his SOLID GOLD KIBBLES and water, we seldom give him treat and other kind of food
• I think my best bet will be the kibbles, because even his moustachy is not stained.

BUT maybe he is still a puppy, and that is why he is still clean, white and fluffy hahaha

After 2months of hand plucking his fur RELIGIOUSLY,

We finally see result, and we are so HAPPY with ourselves PLUS the fact that we SAVE ALOT of $$$$. One 2 hour session will COST us USD65.00! And I am very sure, we will not be able to see result in 1 or 2 sessions!

So heart pain when we are hand stripping him, but Toto's pain tolerance is BERY high. And when I made a mistake and caused him extreme PAIN, he forgive me very quickly. PLUS he seldom snap at me even when I made such mistakes! But he has more patience and tolerate Longer when he is younger!

Now he only listen to YQ! :P

Hopefully YQ will continue to handstrip him when I am not around!

Handstripping also makes the dog SMELL better. So when he starts to have a doggy smell, we will have a round of stripping, either by hand or a ROUGH comb through with a metal comb to pull out his dead fur!

We have progressing to handstripping his head and that is DIFFICULT!

He is now about 15inch long from his neck.

MY FURBALL use to be only about 9inch when he arrives.

MY FURBALL is now LONG BALL!

And he is officially housebroken.

There are still mistake here and there but the mistakes are getting LESSER and lesser!

But still he needs LOTS of reminder but we are also seeing him getting on NUGI all by himself frequently.

And he knows the command 'GO PEE PEE nugi'! Because he have to do that in order to have access to the PATIO!

So we crate him for first half of the night and the 2nd half he be roaming the house and sleep freely! So after his PEE and POOP in the morning, he will COME KISSING us to wake up and clean after his POOP!

So every morning, we have to wake up and CLEAN SHIT~

He Pass 'The Test'!

YQ wanted to crate him, but I got no heart to do it.
We left him in the Pen, and we came home to a escaped westie, as usual ...

But he PEE in his Nugi before he escape which was in the PEN. And we suspect that he HAS no way to go back in the PEN thus he went to the 'USUAL' potty area to Poop. Luckily that area is matted ...

But we are still proud of him because he didn't disturb all our other stuffs, other then HIS TOY crate! Hahahaha, we guess after he escaped out of the PEN, he didn't have any toy to play with, that is why he pull on the Toy crate to get toys to pass his time!

We checked; he didn't jump on the sofa, didn't STEAL our biscuit which is on the coffee table, didn't bite on any of our furniture or wirings!!

MOST IMPORTANTLY, he didn't pee or Poop on the carpet!!

HOW not to love him!?

Just a lil update!

We are very relax with his Potty issue now.

But still he needs REMINDER to go pee pee, but at least he don't leak around anymore.

YIPEE ~~ Now the problems is sometimes he think that as long as he has TWO paws on the Nugi Pad and he is ALRIGHT... Hahaha, when that happen, we don't know should we scold him OR NOT! *Headache* ...

We are trying to leave him alone at home more and so we are getting another Nugi Pad for him to use in another area. IF he ESCAPE from his pen, hopefully we place another Nugi in the kitchen, and he knows he have to walk over to NUGI to POTTY when we are not around.

The next thing we are trying to do is to make him like his crate, so far he doesn't and he don't walk into the crate to sleep  by himself. He loves to sleep ON YQ's slipper, so we tried to place our slippers right out of his crate, hahaha. Nope, didn't succeed! He will entertain and sleep a while inside because we ask him to! And after awhile he will just walk out ...

I prefer that he sleep in crate during the day because only when he is inside the crate, he sleeps better and longer without distraction. C'mon Toto, loves the crate. I promise I won't lock it while you are sleeping if you walk in by yourself!

Bought some discounted Tees and a cape for him! When he ROLL on the grass, I won't be that PISSED! Hahaha stupid dog, keep rolling himself on the grass! Dogs tee are so ex, I have to DIG around clearance bins for more Tees for Toto now! But I got all these for USD13+ in Petsmart, yeah!

@13 Weeks ...

His schedule is getting easier for us.
He now can hold his pee and poop better and is pooping at very regular interval; once in the morning, before dinner and once before he sleep at about 9pm!

He can sort of Pee on command, he is unusually distracted when he needs to pee so when we see that and ask him to go peepee, usually he will do so. There are times when he go himself, but sometimes when he start sniffing about at other area, we'll get paranoid and quickly ask him go peepee on his Nugi pad, hahaha! AND sometime, when we command him to pee, he will pee abit just to make us happy!!

And sometimes, he is SO CLEVER, when he get scolding for peeing at the wrong place, he will POOP at the right place to UNDO the first scolding!!! We are really OUT-WITTED by him!

But we realise as long as the weather is good, he will be VERY relax and happy the whole day; if the weather get too warm, he gets very grouchy and get easily irritated!! Even pee and pooped EVERYWHERE, doesn't even care when he get scolding, hmmmmffffppphh!

SO WEATHER plays a important factor on his potty training, and even his 'TRAINING'. When the weather is cold and cooling, he trains better and is more willing to do his trick well!

This pile of 'GOLD' here is momentous for us, because we are trying to shift his Nugi out of his comfort zone to test whether he will use it outside, and he did it ON HIS OWN, without us nudging him!!

I only play tug and war with him if he uses Moo moo ~

He always like to 'emo' in the Patio, but I LOVE it because that will be his OWN PRIVATE TIME!!

And I will have time to update my blog, hahaha!!!

I was so excited that I actually CAUGHT Toto peepee on his nugi on VIDEO! I was video-ing for YQ showing him how INDEPENDENT he was today and didn't disturb me and caught that 'rare' moment accidentally!

Video is abit long, but I want to show YQ that he actually play from one end of the room and play around the are, and he actually play until NEAR the Nugi area, put down his Monkey and walk in to Pee. He even walk towards me for me to 'pet' him! Hahaha, he loves attention and he knows that pee-ing on Nugi will confirm get him the love and attention he wants!

Almost one week!

It has been almost ONE WEEK that he is here and we are SO DRAINED out of our energy! But we are getting use to each other in our lifes! Toto loves me so much, hubby is VERY JEALOUS! He looks for me for cuddle, petting, food, play and approval!

Hubby says, Toto loves me More than HIM!
Toto loves me to bits to! It often bring abit of pleasure knowing that Toto is looking out for me, and preferring me to carry him than YQ. He even prefer to play in my lap! Or if YQ is carrying him in the Patio enjoying the view, he prefers me to carry him than YQ! And if I walk pass, whatever Toto is doing, it will just turn around and look at me hoping I walk over to pet him! YQ complains SO UNFAIR, when I kept saying I want to give him away, yet Toto still loves me more than him, haha ...


When we play acting that YQ is bullying me, and ask Toto to help me, he will try to jump Snapping at YQ!!

 So I am the center of universe in his life, hahahaha ...

Hubby is a GREEN monster!

Something ODD :

• He is a homey dog, he DO NOT like to go out! We have to FORCE him out the house. And the happiest moments in our walk is WHEN he is running up the steps BACK HOME!

• He will Poo outdoor but Pee indoor!

• Yeah, we are understanding him slowly and controlling him better so he is making less and less mistakes! (Plus we are crating him more.)

• He is most accurate when he is in crate, he will BARK at us for attention when he need to Pee or Poo when he is in crate! And we don't have to wake up EVERY one or two hour for him. He can control his pee rather well for his age! For now, he is can be tolerating up to about 6-7hours ...

• He prefer cloth toys to rubbers ones! We think, he might not like the taste of rubber which works well for us because it meant he doesn't like the taste of cables or wires!

• Another thing we love about him, he doesn't have the habit of roaming the house, usually he likes to keep himself near us. So we didn't have problem of him biting this or that. (But we are still in an early stage, I know!)

ONE MAJOR FLAW :

• He wakes TOO EARLY for my liking, like 5am! He will still try to sleep till 7am till SUNRISE, but really TOO EARLY for an owl like me.

Oh, he allow our HAND or us to meddle in his food.

He will not snarl or bark or snap at us halfway through his meal even if we take away his bowl or just meddle with his food! That is A VERY GOOD HABIT!

He loves the water but he doesn't know how to swim, maybe we can train him to be a life guard dog yeah!

Toto THE TERROR!

His Onery side is getting very OBVIOUS!

When I ask him to his Nugi to go 'Pee Pee', he can understand and will Pee if he has any.

YQ has try walking him from the Crate in the room to his pen, he go direct to the Nugi to Pee.

He has accepted Food as treats and begin liking to play with his toys!

He is learning and willing to do some simple command with treats; Sit, Stand, Down and ROll!

He is a NEAT freak and kept his own area very neat and nice.

He will find all his toy and keep it in his own den

He like YQ to tidy up his den and fold his blanket for him to sleep in!

And he loves the FAN, as long as the fan is on he sleep like a pig.

And everytime before he sleep, he will want either one of us to 'sayang' him abit and then he sleep!

He is most accurate when he sleeps at night, he will bark for attention when needed to pee. BUT he still marks around, lost him twice today!

You see how all his toys is kept near him, and near his favourite blanket with his mommy scents!

It seems his marking problem cannot be 'solve' so we have to get THE CARPET cleaner!

Hopefully this help with our situation!!

2nd day at home!

He wake up all fierce and mighty, and with a FLOP ear! Hubby is so dissapointed, and blame me for his flop ear because I might have damage it during the car ride back!

The MESS he created first day!

We used Nature Miracle, Vinegar and Baking Soda to clean up his mess and sprinkle EVERYWHERE with baking soda hoping to cleanse all the ODOUR of his urine!

While we are scrubbing the carpet like mad, he is sleeping like a PIG!

But for the first day, we achieved alot.
He is successfully -

• Crated
• Kept in Pen while we left for Walmart.
• Full Pee are always done in Nugi
• Poo also in Nugi already
• Slept in Crate throughout the night
• He knows how to inform us in the middle of the night to bring him to Pee
• He ate and drink well
• He is switching over to Solid Gold with no issue.
• We can handle his paws , tail and ears with no problem.
• He isn't afraid of the Vaccum, no barking or snaring when I use it.
• He trusted us, so as long as the electronics is used by us, he gladly accept it.
• As long as the area is abit cold and windy, he falls asleep!
• He abit 'Hum Chee', hahahaha, everything also scared. Good for us which means he don't dare to venture into kitchen or patio or run away or even toilet or our room. He just stays in the living room, near the area where he stay.

Bad :

• We are keeping a vigilant watch because he wants to do marking, so he cannot be trusted on the carpet.
• He likes to be hold and cuddle ALWAYS. And he loves to jump up and sleep, on my HUMONGOUS thigh. That is his sleep Heaven!

He has arrive in Texas!

The sweet lady, Connie. She is very soft spoken and a nice lady, introducing us to all the westies and puppies! We saw a few Megan's puppies, she say they be leaving soon too ...

He was struggling ALOT!

He arrived home but with a FLOP ear, YQ is devasted!!

Sleeping soundly ...

He was a darling throughout the trip, no mishap; no vomitting, shitting, urinating, phobia, anxiety! He was wrap around my arm, as long as I am stroking him he just fall asleep. And he slept most of the way. Although we stopped about 3x but he only urinated once in our stop and we actually stop lesser than planned.

We are happy for now.

Day 01

We have also manage to successfully trick him into moving into the crate.

He is only allow in the bedroom IF HE IS in the crate

And some hit on the Nugi but of course there are more miss!

He doesn't bark at our vaccum.

 He is willing to walk side by side with me (without training)

He already can react to us, walking to me or him when called to.

A really TIRING day for him and US!
